Engineered Syntactic Systems, (ESS), was established in 2006 as a sister company to CMT Materials, Inc. ESS has focused its development and production expertise in the subsea and oceanographic environments. Each of the principals at ESS each has more than 25 years of experience in the area of advanced reinforced polymeric composites and the group has been collectively responsible for many of the deepwater systems used today by the Navy, Oceanographic and Offshore oil industries. Syntactic foam flotation products are available in formulations for shallow water foam to those capable of reaching the bottom of the Mariana Trench. Standard shapes and sizes are offered, as well as custom formed geometries. ESS is also able to offer fabrication of syntactic and composite/syntactic structures and assemblies to provide turnkey services.

The basic offerings of ESS may be broken into three distinct groups:

Deep Water Syntactic Foam Systems
These systems are used for buoyancy applications. Systems constructed to operate from shallow water to the most demanding ocean depths. Density ranges from 19 lbs/ft� to 45 lbs/ft� depending on buoyancy requirements.

Structural Core Materials

Macrocore� line of highly engineered structural core material.� An infusion ready material with high shear, fully isotropic, high heat resistance, no resin uptake, no out gassing, low thermal expansion, and fully tailored properties.

Syntactic Void-Filler Kits
Pre-prepared syntactic kits for on-site void filling by the customer or ESS personnel. These kits have been successfully installed in mudtanks, control surfaces and other void spaces in shipyards throughout the United States.

Custom Syntactic Systems
Non-standard buoyancy solutions designed and fabricated to meet customer drawings or specified applications. These systems may include bonding, composite overlay, painting and hydrostatic and mechanical proof testing.
